Dr. Y.T. Chen is the physician/scientist who discovered the only life-saving treatment for Pompe Disease and has led the scientific field in another life-saving discoveries: the screening markers for prevention of Stevens-Johnson syndrome induced by drugs such as carbamazepine and allopurinol, and for prediction of warfarin dosage. Dr. Chen is the Director Emeritus and Distinguished Research Fellow of Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Academia Sinica. Dr. Chen also has a professorship appointment at Department of Pediatrics, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, and has been the Chief of Division of Medical Genetics from 1993 to 2004. He was also the President of Taiwan Human Genetics Society, and Board of Director of Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders (2005-2011). Dr. Chen’s distinguished career also includes many honors and awards, and has presented over 250 scientific publications. He is an elected member of Academia Sinica and of the Academy Sciences for the Developing World.
