Common Usages
Commonly used to treat hyperuricemia and its complications, including gout. It is used to reduce uric acid level in patients receiving cancer chemotherapy, and also used to treat certain type of kidney stones.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are two of the most serious and life-threatening ADR with a 10 - 50% mortality rate.
