Pharmigene Collaborates to Battle SJS and TENS in United States.
Pharmigene today announced the licensing of its patented and patent-pending intellectual property to Mayo Medical Laboratories to develop in-house genetic tests. The tests are being designed for use in detecting the presence of key genetic alleles in individual patients being considered for treatment with drugs that have been linked to the development of SJS and TENS.

Pharmigene Secures Patents Related to Genetic-Based Methods to Fight SJS and TENS in United States, Europe, Australia, Singapore and Taiwan.
Pharmigene today announced it has been granted patents in the United States, Europe, Australia, Singapore and Taiwan. The patents cover methods to detect the presence of key genetic alleles in individual patients being considered for treatment with drugs that have been linked to the development of adverse drug reactions including SJS and TENS.

European patent for the “Risk Assessment for Adverse Drug Reactions”was issued as Patent number: EP1697539.
This invention relates to methods for predicting the risk of an individual for adverse drug reactions.
It includes the presence of HLA-B*1502 for Carbamazepine induced SJS/TEN and the presence of HLA-B*5801 for Allopurinol induced SJS/TEN.
